My sister was reading a previous post that included a Shaun Cassidy video and commented about the fact that my husband bears a strong resemblance to Shaun. This is something that didn't go unnoticed by my hubby either. It would appear that 30 years later, I'm still in love with a teenage heart throb!
Over the course of my lifetime I have been in love with a number of teenage heart throbs.

One of my first loves was Ike Eisenmann who played "Tony Malone" in Escape to Witch Mountain . I loved this movie with a passion; I saw it so many times that I knew the dialogue by heart. My obsession with this film and its stars had fuel poured on it when my mother used my family's film connections to arrange for me to meet Kim Richards for a luncheon which resulted in my spending a weekend at her house. That they were befriending me because they believed that being nice to me would be a good political move given my grandfather's power at Disney is fodder for another story altogether. We were talking about Ike. I was nine when I fell in love with his mop of hair and big soulful eyes. It was a crush that would be reignited every time he appeared on a TV show like Eight is Enough or Little House on the Prairie. But he was just one of many.

There was Bobby Sherman. But really, who didn't love Bobby? He could act and sing, had a smile that could melt a girl's heart, and had that fabulous mop of hair with the bangs that brushed innocently across his forehead. He was on the cover of Tiger Beat nearly every week. He had a TV show called Getting Together, the main character for which was introduced on an episode of the Patridge Family.

There was Lance Kerwin. Remember him? First he captured our hearts in The Loneliest Runner where he played a bed wetting track star, and then in the series James at 15. He too had those bangs, like Bobby Sherman that swept across his forhead. Yeah, it's a thing with me.

Of course, there was Shaun Cassidy. Again with the bangs. My love for him has already been declared. I was an avid Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Mysteries fan and there was a time when I was torn between two great loves because I also thought Parker Stevenson was foxy too!

Okay, I'll give it to you. I've got a bang fetish. It's becoming more and more clear to me with each photo of a heart throb I download! In 5th grade my friend Mishi's father was on an episode of The Hardy Boys and she got to go to visit her dad on the set and took another one of our friends, Betsy. I was seething with jealousy and come to think of it, I'm still not sure I've forgiven them for leaving me out. I can really hold a grudge. A few years back I sat next to Parker to watch a movie in a graveyard and he was still cute and I spent most of the movie casting sidelong glances at him.

Then there was Leif Garrett. Again with the bangs. How jealous was I of Kristy McNichol who played his girlfriend on Family? He could sing, dance, and always had his shirt unbuttoned and not a trace of chest hair. How could I not swoon?
All of these boys, with their fabulous bangs, soulful eyes, and pearly white smiles helped shape my taste in men (and music) and paved the way for the love of my life with whom I celebrate our third anniversary today.

Talk about a heart throb!

Oh, you bet you were, Leif!
Cool post Surly! Happy Anniversary!
shaun cassidy was so cute, but i loved parker better. and i was so glad he got with kate jackson, my favorite angel. cause she was smart and didnt trade on her boobs.
and bobby sherman, i had a door sized poster of him. oh, bobby.
so lemme ask you - do you remember the defranco's? they did a version of save the last dance, and i LOVED tony.
I remember Lance Kerwin not from "James at 15" (too young) but from "'Salem's Lot" when it was rebroadcast on cable in the '80s.
When I was a kid I taped all the celebrities I had a crush on, on the wall over my bed and numbered them. His picture was right in the middle, right next to my face (with a BIG number ONE) so I could smooch him every night before I went to sleep.
GAWD!
You like to live on the edge and rated.
nofrillsmonkey - I had a very similar wall.
OESheepdog - he can try... but there really aren't any where I'm not covering my face with my hand giving the finger :)

Thank you! So much Bobby... so little time.
Seriously, I haven't read all this, I read it the way I read Tiger Beat, scanned for the pictures. I will come back and go through the text, but not until after a swim.
Michael - I'm a brazen hussy, thank you very much :)
Robin - thank you... oh and not a hope in Hades of seeing my mug anytime soon ;)
You ARE a brazen hussy - liking all the boys. I only loved Shaun and that's why I deserved him.
My big crush before Shaun was Pernell Roberts - or, really, Adam Cartwright from Bonanza. Didn't know he had gone bald.
Post Shaun was Peter Criss from KISS, but only because my best friends took the other ones.
Then, Joe Perry from Aerosmith - still HOTTT!
I have diverse tastes.
Hubby is adorable in that picture with the kitty and the distressed jeans!
Is that a recent pic of the hubby, because I am having trouble with the timeline here? Either this is an old picture, you married someone much younger, or he is aging extremely well. Don't feel you have to answer this. I like puzzles. It will keep me coming back.
Finally. OMG i remember that episode with Bobby and David together. I thought I was going to die. If only we'd had VCRs back then. (Could Bobby have looked more feminine with that choker? OMG...see you are upsetting my long dormant teen personna - really, I thought I'd killed that off with wine and martinis).
You are definitely onto something with the bangs/soulful eyes. It must have been a fluke right...not a Hollywood formula tuned to teenage hormones? Right?
See, I made it through all the text...all I needed was a cool dip in the pond.
Still, that pansy-assed Shawn (which is the girly spelling) has nothing on David. David was a real musician too. He had the chops. Mamoore and I are going to take you down on this. ;)
That is an old photo of my hubby which I had to pry out of his stash this morning... but he still looks pretty much the same and young.
While he is only 6 months my junior there was an unpleasant episode at Walmart about a year ago when the woman at the check-out counter suggested to me, that my son, as she pointed to my husband, could carry out the heavy item for me. He had to haul me out before there was a smackdown of epic proportions!
Brazen Hussy's are the best. Hands down.
My crush? Christopher Atkins....... *sigh* Blue Lagoon? The Pirate Movie?

Thanks for the trip down memory lane and the racing heart. Happy Anniversary, too.
HA
(But from your youthful crush choices, I gotta tell ya, it's so clear you're not Jewish... ;)
Sally - however could you tell ;)
FYI - I watched Here Come the Brides in elementary school and can still sing the words to the theme song.
